LITTLE BY LITTLE

 

Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased,and you inherit the land.. (Exodus 23:27-30).

💁I like promises such as the one on the first paragraph above, don't you? But don't just say Amen and relax yet. Let's look more closely at that promise. In vs. 30, the second paragraph, GOD says HE will drive out our enemies little by little, not suddenly. That means we should not be in a hurry, because even though our deliverance  is settled already (vs. 27), it will become manifest little by little. So, amongst other things, we need patience to bring us to the place of absolute freedom. One wonderful thing about this promise however, is that you can decide

 how fast your little by little is. GOD says HE will drive out your enemies little by little until you have increased enough to inherit the land, that is the more you increase the more enemies HE will drive out.

The work of increment (growth) is in your hands. In what ways can you increase? You should increase in your study of GOD's word and obedience to it, prayers and in the fruit of the Holy Spirit. GOD expects you to grow, because much of your deliverance (freedom) depends on the rate at which you grow as a Christian. As long as you choose to remain a baby Christian who has to be cajoled to pray and study the word, as long as you remain carnal and unchanged by the word of GOD  that you hear and read, GOD cannot but chase out your enemies little by little. If he does others, there would not be enough in you to occupy the land, and that could be tragic. 

You have the opportunity to experience as much freedom as you desire.

The Danger in Backsliding

 Have you ever come across the word 'backslider' before? Have you ever heard of brethren discussing about a backsliding brother or sister before? If at all you have heard, have you ever wondered what that meant?

It is quite unfortunate that Christians are ignorant of the subject matter.

To backslide means to slip back from good behavior into bad. In other words, to repent from righteousness to sin, instead of repenting from sin to righteousness by allowing the mundane things of the world to rule your heart instead of allowing the Spirit to rule and lead you.

The anointing of GOD in your life will begin to depreciate and when this happens, you begin to yield to sin. Failure to check your spiritual life will lead to backsliding.

Backsliding is not automatic, it is gradual and it comes in a subtle way that you may not even know that you have started to backslide already.

It is so gradual that the backsliding person becomes sensual(worldly) separation from fellow brethren that he know will check him.

When a Christian backslides, the spirit of GOD departs from him and he begins to act on the residues of the anointing on him just like Samson he still thought he had the Spirit of GOD on him  but how wrong he was (Judges 16:2).

Before you proceed, please open your HOLY BIBLE to Hebrew 6:4-6.

This is a serious warning to all Christian in this era who are now enjoying the goodness of GOD.to be forewarned about the dangers of backsliding.

The Agony of a True Father

 Joe: GOD what's happening to me? I serve you with my whole heart, nothing to show for it. I've graduated since 1998 no job.

Holy Spirit: Son GOD is working on your behalf to give you a better future. Just exercise patience.

Joe: To be patience again, for how long will I keep enduring this suffering.

Satan: You've the opportunity to get better and betting job. Just pay attention to me and you'll never regret it. Remember Gideon and John.

Joe: [interrupted] Yes, Gideon and John were my school mate and now they have made it. I will go to them then get a job.

Holy Spirit: Son impatience is the easiest way to destruction. Why can't you be patience with GOD?

Joe: Is anything wrong in going to look for a job in my friends place. I'm sick and tired with your patience, leave me alone.

Eventually the devil succeeded in winning Joe's heart.
